Adoption and Investment

Welcoming a happy puppy into your home.

May I enquire about the price of a Pomeranian?

Indeed, a Pomeranian puppy typically costs around €3,000.

The final price depends on several factors, including: bloodlines, sex, specific characteristics of the puppy, and availability.

Furthermore, we offer preferential terms to families who commit to involving the puppy from the outset in socialisation programmes or suitable sporting activities at accredited centres or with ENCI-qualified instructors. We invite you to share a little about yourself (your background, location, and what you are looking for) to help us provide the most tailored response and determine if you are the ideal companion for one of our puppies.

Is it possible to acquire a Pomeranian and receive it immediately?

No, it is not possible to have a Pomeranian immediately.

Ethical boutique breeding requires meticulous time and planning: mating, gestation, and the growth of the puppy (up to at least 3 months) are essential phases that cannot be rushed. No reputable breeder has puppies of every variety permanently available. We invite you to contact us to learn about our upcoming litters and projected timelines.

  • 3

May I give a Pomeranian puppy as a gift?

Yes, it is possible to gift a Pomeranian.

However, it is paramount to ensure that the future owner is fully prepared to care for the dog throughout its entire life (up to 16–17 years). A puppy is ready for adoption only after three months with its mother, rather than for a specific calendar date. Additionally, the dog must be registered with the canine registry and ENCI in the name of the actual owner.

  • 4

Do you deliver Pomeranian puppies across Italy or abroad?

We prefer the owner to collect the puppy in person from our estate.

Alternatively, we can arrange a hand-delivery with a reimbursement of expenses. We strictly avoid the use of commercial couriers, as prolonged transport can cause excessive stress to young puppies and compromise their well-being.

  • 5

Is it possible to visit the premises before adoption?

Visits to our boutique breeding estate are possible by appointment, though they are reserved for future owners who have expressed a concrete interest in a specific puppy.

We understand the desire to meet your future Pomeranian and see the environment in which they are raised. Nevertheless, our primary objective is to maintain a serene and secure environment for our dogs and facilitate responsible adoptions.

Do you have Miniature or "Toy" Pomeranians?

No, terms such as "Miniature Pomeranian" or "Toy Pomeranian" do not identify a separate or officially recognised breed.

The Pomeranian is already the smallest size of the German Spitz (Zwergspitz). The standard height for an adult Pomeranian is between 18 and 24 cm at the withers. It is important to be wary of those offering dogs with "toy" or "extra mini" labels, as these often fall outside the breed standard and may pose significant health risks. It should be noted that the official Breed Standard recently introduced a firm stance stating that Pomeranians below the minimum measurement are undesirable, representing a vital safeguard for the breed's essential characteristics.

  • 2

Is it better to choose a young Pomeranian puppy or an older dog?

The choice depends on many factors and your specific lifestyle.

An older puppy or an adult can be advantageous for a less demanding management phase, whereas a young puppy (never under three months) requires greater attention and is more delicate. A Pomeranian bonds deeply with its owner at any age, so the connection is not necessarily stronger if the dog is adopted as a young puppy.

  • 3

Is it advisable to choose a male or a female Pomeranian?

The choice between a male or female depends on your personal preference; the character of the individual specimen is often more relevant than its sex.

    • Males: Generally sweeter and more affectionate, boasting a more stable coat.
    • Femmine: Can be more demanding due to being in heat (twice a year) and a more pronounced seasonal moult.
    • Cohabitation: Introducing a dog of the opposite sex if one is already present can lead to challenging behaviours. Two animals of the same sex usually harmonise more easily, though this depends on the individual temperaments.

Casa dei Pomerania advises against neutering or spaying unless for specific medical reasons.

  • 4

Do you have pure white Pomeranians?

No, we do not breed pure white Pomeranians.

To be considered as such, a Pomeranian must possess a precise genetic profile. In some litters, we may have puppies with cream-white colourations, even very light ones, but they are not classified as pure white according to the official breed standard.

  • 5

Do you have Pomeranian bloodlines free from alopecia issues?

None of the specimens at Casa dei Pomerania have shown symptoms compatible with Alopecia X (BSD).

While there is no definitive scientific explanation for this syndrome, believed to be genetic and hormonal, descendants of a dog with alopecia can be exempt.

We immediately retire any Sire or Dam showing signs of coat loss and inform owners of the lineage.

It is important to note that many prestigious Pomeranian bloodlines have had cases of alopecia; a new or unknown line does not guarantee the absence of the issue and is often less reliable in maintaining the breed's best characteristics.

  • 6

What is the average lifespan of a Pomeranian?

A healthy Pomeranian has a high life expectancy, generally exceeding 15 years and often reaching 18 years or more, depending on the care and general health of the specimen.

  • 7

Is the Pomeranian a delicate dog or prone to specific health problems?

No, the Pomeranian is not inherently delicate.

It is a primitive dog with robust genetics and few specific issues. Being of a very small size, it must be protected from physical accidents (such as impacts) and requires supervised interaction with very young children. Beyond these precautions and standard climate considerations, they are remarkably resilient.

May I carry my Pomeranian in a handbag or carrier?

Yes, it is possible to transport a Pomeranian in a classic carrier, a suitable handbag, or a stroller.

However, this should not be the sole mode of outing or interaction. The Pomeranian is an active dog that needs to walk, run, play, and explore the external environment.

  • 2

Does a Pomeranian require a daily walk?

Yes, the Pomeranian absolutely requires walks.

Although they can manage their needs indoors, walking is essential for socialisation, expressing natural behaviours, and mental stimulation. They cherish your company, and it is vital they encounter their peers and new people. You are not obliged to venture out in extreme conditions (such as midnight on a freezing winter night) if you have accustomed them to an indoor puppy pad.

  • 3

May I travel in a car with my Pomeranian on my lap?

No, travelling with a Pomeranian on your lap is prohibited by the Highway Code.

Pets must be transported exclusively in a cage, a specific container, or with a suitable and fixed separator. For your safety and that of your animal, consider that in the event of an accident at 70 km/h, a 2.5 kg dog suddenly develops a force of approximately 50 kg; you would almost certainly lose your grip, risking severe consequences for your companion. Always use appropriate restraint systems.

  • 4

Does the Pomeranian shed much? How is the moult managed?

Yes, the Pomeranian does shed, but the amount is manageable with regular brushing (once a week).

This habit helps keep indoor shedding under control and strengthens your bond. During seasonal moulting periods or a female's heat, shedding is more intense and requires more frequent care. With the correct attention, coat management is straightforward.

Is it possible to purchase a Pomeranian puppy without a pedigree to reduce the cost?

No, the sale of purebred dogs without a pedigree is a legal offence in Italy (Legislative Decree no. 529 of 1992).

The pedigree certificates the Pomeranian's genetic heritage, and its cost to the breeder is negligible (approx. 60 Euros). A significant discount for not providing it indicates a lack of transparency. Acquiring a dog without a pedigree is not a good bargain and renders the buyer liable to fines. Choosing a puppy with a pedigree ensures transparency, health, and compliance with regulations.

  • 2

May I purchase a Pomeranian from abroad?

Yes, it is possible to acquire a Pomeranian from abroad from a reputable breeder affiliated with the FCI, allowing for the conversion of the pedigree.

However, international purchases carry risks due to a potential lack of oversight regarding health, pedigree veracity, and transport conditions. Very young puppies should not undergo long, traumatic journeys that could impact their temperament. We recommend a conscious and local purchase for the safety and well-being of the puppy.

  • 3

Is it important to choose a Pomeranian with a Champion title?

Champion titles are to be considered positive and an additional element when choosing a puppy, alongside other factors.

Casa dei Pomerania appreciates the dedication of ENCI exhibitors who, through genetic studies and cynotechnical evaluations, contribute to the breed's improvement. This system ensures a constructive comparison between professionals and supports the maintenance of the Pomeranian standard. However, a Champion title is not the sole criterion; the ultimate goal is always to find a "happy puppy".
